Bilaspur. The first day of the new year brought a good and clean morning for the city dwellers. The residents of the new wards, who were waiting for systematic cleaning, got the gift of mechanized and manual sweeping on January 1 morning, due to which better cleanliness in the old rural areas and better rank of Bilaspur in the survey is expected in the coming days. The roads and lanes of the new areas added in the municipal corporation limits will also look clean now. Lions Services Company, which till now handled the cleaning work in the old areas of the corporation, has started mechanized and manual cleaning in the newly added wards as well.
Increasing the scope of mechanized and manual sweeping, after getting approval, the Municipal Corporation had recently signed an agreement in the presence of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai to implement this system in 18 new wards which include 15 old Gram Panchayats, 2 Nagar Panchayats and 1 Nagar Palika, in which preparations were to start from 1 January 2025. The team reached all the new wards on the first day
Under manual and mechanized sweeping, about 560 employees of the cleaning company reached all the new 18 wards in the morning. On the first day, the main road and streets were cleaned. After expansion, a team of total 790 employees will take charge in the new areas. In the next two days, all 790 workers will be given responsibility on the basis of beats.
Zone commissioner was on the field since 6 am
On the instructions of Corporation Commissioner Amit Kumar, the commissioners and cleaning staff of all the 8 zones were stationed in the field from 6 am and kept monitoring the cleaning work. In fact, the Corporation Commissioner has given strict instructions to do the cleaning work on priority and has asked to monitor it daily.
449 new residential beats, 45 commercial beats, new team of 790
For systematic cleaning of the new areas, 449 new residential beats and 45 commercial beats have been determined for the entire area, through which the cleaning work will be done. Apart from this, all main roads including highways will be cleaned mechanically. At present, the cleaning work is being done by dividing the old area into 400 residential and 75 commercial beats, in which 775 workers are working. When the work starts in the new areas under this arrangement, there will be a total of 849 residential beats, 120 commercial beats in the entire city and 1565 sanitation workers together will keep the entire city clean.
