Mangala Gauri Vrat Date Or Katha: Mangala Gauri fast is considered very important in Hinduism. According to the Panchang, Mangala Gauri fast is observed on Tuesdays falling in Sawan. This year the first Mangala Gauri fast is falling on 23 July. Just as Lord Shankar loves the month of Sawan, in the same way, Mother Parvati also loves the month of Sawan very much.

Worshiping Lord Shiva on Monday in the month of Sawan brings the desired boon. Keeping the Mangala Gauri fast on Tuesday of Sawan brings the blessings of unbroken good fortune by the grace of Mother Parvati. The fast of Mangala Gauri is observed by both married women and unmarried girls. According to mythological beliefs, there was a rich businessman named Dharampal and he had a wife. Seth Dharampal’s wife was very beautiful. There was no dearth of wealth and prosperity in their life but Dharampal and his wife were always unhappy due to not having any child. After many years of worshipping God, by the grace of God, Dharampal and his wife got a child but his child was cursed with a short life. Due to this curse, he would have died at the age of 16. By the grace of God, Dharampal’s child got married before 16 years of age. The girl whom Dharampal’s son got married to, that girl used to worship Maa Gauri in the month of Sawan. She used to worship Maa Gauri by keeping the fast of Mangala Gauri, due to which Mother Parvati blessed that girl with unbroken good fortune. With the blessings of Mother Parvati, that girl became unbroken good fortune and her husband lived for 100 years. Since then Mangala Gauri Vrat has become famous and all the married and unmarried women and girls observe this fast as per the rituals to please Goddess Parvati.
