Mahasamund 19 June 2021. On the instructions of Collector Doman Singh, an intensive vaccination program has been started in the district from June 01, 2021 to save the animals from the infectious diseases caused by galghontu and ektangia in the rain. Which will run till June 30, 2021. Dr. DD Jharia, Deputy Director of Veterinary Services informed that a target has been set to vaccinate 75 percent of the animals in Mahasamund district. Under the state government’s ambitious Suraji Gaon Yojna Garuva programme, 100 percent vaccination will be done in the Gauthan villages of the district. In which 69 thousand 185 livestock have been targeted for galghotu vaccination in Mahasamund block, while a target of 36 thousand 932 animals has been set for Ektangia vaccination. 39 employees have been given responsibility for this work. Similarly, in development block Bagbahra, 61 thousand 431 livestock have been targeted for galghotu vaccination while 32 thousand 718 animals are targeted for Ektangia vaccination and 23 employees have been given responsibility.
Similarly, 34 field staff have been deployed in Pithora block, setting a vaccination target of 51 thousand 122 animals for galghotu vaccination and 27 thousand 187 animals for Ektangia vaccination. In Basna block, 28 thousand 626 animals are targeted for galoshes vaccination and 15 thousand 270 animals for Ektangia vaccination. In which 27 employees will complete this work. Similarly, in Saraipali development block, target of 35 thousand 636 galghotu vaccination and Ektangia vaccination 18 thousand 893 animals has been fixed. 24 staff have been deployed here. There are 226 Gauthan villages in the district, where the target is set to vaccinate 100% of the animals. In this way, a total of two lakh 46 thousand animals will be vaccinated with galghontu and one lakh 31 thousand ektangia. From June 01 to June 16, 2021, 24 thousand 486 vaccinations of Galghotu and 29 thousand 166 of Ektangia have been done. It is known that in strep throat, 70 percent of animals die due to high fever, swelling of the throat, pneumonia, nasal discharge, then suffocation within 24 hours. In which adult and buffalo animals are more affected. Similarly, calves up to four years of age are more affected by Ektangia disease. Due to which 70 percent of the animals die. In this disease, there is a high fever, a chirping sound when pressing swelling around any one leg or hip. Death occurs within 24 hours. Younger animals are more affected. This is a contagious infectious disease. Due to its outbreak, the farmers cause a lot of economic loss to the farmers. Intensive vaccination program is being run in the district to save the farmers from this damage. To take maximum benefit of this program, an appeal has been made to the farmers of the animal husbandry brothers of the district.
