From Lord Jagannath Puri to all the big temples of the country, the Lord falls ill after the Mahasnan on the full moon day of Jyeshtha Shukla Paksha. But in the Math temple located in Shivrinarayan of Janjgir Champa district, Lord Jagannath Swami is not given Mahasnan on Jyeshtha Purnima. He is given Mahasnan on the Ekadashi day of the first fortnight of the month of Ashadha. That is, today on 2 July. Shivri Narayan is also known as Jagannathpuri of Chhattisgarh. It is believed that in ancient times, all the three idols of Lord Jagannath ji were installed at this place, but later they were taken to Jagannath Puri. On this day, the Lord will be given Mahasnan in the Math temple, after which the Lord will be taken from the main temple and kept in a separate temple. Where he will be treated with decoction made from herbs. On 7th July, on the day of Rath Yatra, the Lord will recover and ride a chariot to his aunt’s house to give darshan to the devotees.
