According to the Election Commission, till April 23, the highest expenditure has been made by BJP candidate Tokhanram Sahu from Bilaspur. Tokhan Sahu has spent more than Rs 76 lakh. Whereas rival Congress candidate Devendra Yadav has spent only Rs 26 lakh. Congress candidate from Kanker Biresh Thakur has spent the least amount of Rs 3.29 lakh and BJP candidate from Raipur Brijmohan Agarwal has spent Rs 5.32 lakh. Both the candidates of Korba have not given information about their expenses. The amount of these expenses may increase in the coming days.
How much can candidates spend?
An expenditure limit of Rs 90 lakh has been fixed for election campaigning. However, there is no limit on how much the party can spend. The Commission has been increasing the expenditure limit of candidates in Lok Sabha elections from time to time. In the year 2019 this limit was Rs 70 lakh.

According to the information available in the website, the Election Commission allows candidates to spend on meetings, rallies, advertisements, posters-banners and vehicles. All candidates are required to submit details of their expenses to the Election Commission within 30 days of the end of the elections.
