Raipur. Voting is going on in 93 seats of 11 states in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections. Among these, voters are also exercising their franchise in 7 Lok Sabha seats of Chhattisgarh, Raipur, Bilaspur, Korba, Durg, Raigarh, Surguja and Janjgir-Champa. 15 thousand 701 polling stations have been set up in the state for the third phase of voting. In which Sheradand, the second smallest polling station of the country and the smallest of Chhattisgarh, is once again in the news.
Let us tell you that there are only 5 voters in this polling station located in Bharatpur-Sonhat assembly, 120 km away from Koriya district headquarters. The Commission had sent a team of 7 members here to complete the election process. Like all polling stations, voting time here too was from 7 am to 6 pm. But here 100 percent voting took place at 9 am itself. Collector and District Election Officer Vinay Kumar Langeh has expressed his gratitude to all the voters for giving their 100 percent participation in democracy.
Voters increased from 2 to 5 in 16 years
It is noteworthy that the number of voters has increased in Sherandand during the last three Lok Sabha elections. Sheradand came into limelight during the 2008 assembly elections. When for the first time after delimitation a temporary polling station was made for two voters. Since then, voting has taken place for four Assemblies and three Lok Sabha elections. There were two voters in 2008, but the family has started growing here. The couple, who settled here from Jashpur, have now become five voters. Similarly, like Sherrod in Koriya district, the second polling station is Kanto, where there are only 12 voters. Which includes seven men and five women.
