Kawardha , 16 February 2020. A leopard found dead in the Bhatela Tola complex of Sahaspur Lohara enclosure in Kabirdham district has died due to electrocution. Jithar was used to apply electricity current. In the presence of forest department officials, the post-mortem was done by the team of veterinarians and experts and S.O.P. Was cremated while following. On Tuesday, 16 February, based on the information of the informant system and with the help of Sniffer Dog Squad, teams of Forest Department and Police Department were issued and search warrants raided the house of the possible suspected criminal. In raids, material used in wildlife crime was found. The suspected criminal is being questioned.
Forest Officer, Mr. Dilraj Prabhakar told that on Monday 15In February, the Deputy Forest Officer, Sahaspur Lohara was informed by phone to the Forest Division Officer Kawardha that a leopard was found dead in Room No. 305 of the Bhatela Tola Complex of Sahaspur Lohara Region . Forest Divisional Officer , Deputy Forest Divisional Officer , Zone Officer , concerned forest staff and vet immediately rushed to the spot. Visiting the spot saw a female leopard , which must have been around 2 to 3 years old ,GI wire has died due to the current. Immediately the senior officials were informed about the incident by the forest division officer. Achanakmar Tiger Reserve was contacted over telephone to send the sniffer dog squad and also informed in writing. POR- 16031/15 issued in the name of an unknown criminal. Post-mortem proceedings were not taken as the sunset was close. Proper measures were taken to safeguard the body. Night patrolling and informant system were activated to find the culprit. Was cremated while following. At the time of post-mortem and cremation , Chief Forest Conservator , Durg Forest Circle ,Durgs were available on the spot. A sample collection of the dead wild animal female leopard was sent to the Forensic Laboratory for confirmation. Detection of suspected criminals and other criminals on the basis of evidence of wild leopard female leopard is being done by the Forest Department team.
