Jagdalpur, 01 January 2021. Like the entire Chhattisgarh state, people are enjoying Chhattisgarh and Bastariya cuisine in Gadkaleva, which has been set up in the district headquarters Jagdalpur as per the instructions of the state government. The Garh Kalewa, established by the Government of Chhattisgarh in the Shaheed Park complex of Jagdalpur city for promotion of Chhattisgarhi and local food and cuisine as well as their preservation and enhancement, has become a major attraction for the people. With this, due to being the only local catering center in the district headquarters Jagdalpur and the entire district, large number of people are reaching Garh Kalewa everyday to enjoy the cuisine. When we reach this Gadkaleva started by the Government of Chhattisgarh under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel to preserve and promote Chhattisgarh food, we get to see various tableaux of Chhattisgarh food. The responsibility of successful operation of Gadkaleva of Jagdalpur city has been given to Mahamaya Self Help Women Group of local Patharguda region. The women of this 15-member group have been fully trained in the operations of Garhkaleva. In this work, Chila, Fara, typicali, Khurmi, Airassa, Mung Bada, Urad Bada, Dosa etc. are being made in Chhattisgarhi and Bastar dishes in the Garh Kalewa by skilled women. In Garhkaleva, a large number of people are reaching every day and tasting the dishes. Women self-help groups have got a better way of employment by getting the responsibility of running this Gadhkaleva. Women are earning Rs 4 thousand per day from Garh Kalewa. Apart from this, according to the instructions of the state government, the district administration has instructions to ask for the dishes from Gadkaleva itself during meetings and necessary events of all government offices.
Lal Bahadur Shastri Ward Jagdalpur resident Dharmendra Dhurve has appreciated this innovative initiative of launching Chhattisgarh government’s Garh Kalewa. He said that commendable work has been done by the state government to protect and promote Chhattisgarhi and local cuisine by starting Garh Kaleva. Rajkumar Meravi, a resident of Dimrapal Jagdalpur, has also described the beginning of Garh Kalewa as Chhattisgarh’s thinking of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister. He said that through this, an effective effort has been made to provide self-employment to the local women self-help groups in addition to the conservation and enrichment of food and drink in Chhattisgarh and Bastar.
