Employment is available in the village, additional source of income
Jagdalpur, 23 December 2020. Gothan built in the villages of the state under the special priority Narva, Garwa, Ghuaruwa and Bari scheme of Chhattisgarh government is proving to be very useful for villagers in many ways. Along with being a suitable place for livestock security, this Gothan is now being established as an important center for self-employment and earning additional income for the villagers. We get to see its hallmark in the village Gothan of village Pahurbel of Bakavand development block in the tribal-dominated Bastar district of the state. This Gothan of village Pahurbel has become the basis of their economic support by providing self-employment to the women of the women self-help groups of the village in addition to the protection and proper care of the livestock of the village as per the vision of the state government.
Women, who are known for their hard work and wages in nearby villages for earning their livelihood, are earning a decent income for less work than gothan built in the village as per the state government’s plan. Women from more than 10 groups of Bandhan Mahila Gram Sangathan of village Pahurbel are associated with various livelihood activities in village Gothan. Women livelihood activities in Gothan include vermi compost making, flowerpot, nadep compost, mushroom production besides fish farming, as well as horticulture works under the production of lady seed production and seasonal greens, vegetable production and construction of sunshine etc. They are earning extra income by joining. In all these works, technical assistance training to women under various schemes of government, Guidance and marketable linkage facilities are being provided. In Gothan, Boudaful self-help group took 11 thousand in construction of vermi compost under livelihood enhancement, Durga self-help group took 10 thousand in production of cow dung in pottery, 4500 in mushroom production and 6 thousand from Nadep compost. Bandhan Mahila Gram Sangathan has taken advantage of 45 thousand in production.
Giving information about the importance and usefulness of Gothan, the women of the village said that before the construction of Gothan in the village, they had to go out of the village in search of work in all seasons. But now they have got the support of self-employment and livelihood in the village itself. Due to which she is also able to financially support her family. Apart from this, with the construction of this Gothan, they are getting easy work throughout the year. In this way, the Gothan of village Pahurbel has proved useful in every way for women and villagers, and has become the basis of their prosperity.
