Jagdalpur 03 June 2021. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has congratulated and congratulated Bastar mountaineer Naina Singh Dhakad for scaling the world’s highest peak Mount Everest. While wishing for the bright future of Naina, Chief Minister Baghel said that Naina has made Chhattisgarh proud with her achievement by conquering the highest mountain peak of the world with her determination, willpower and indomitable courage.
Mount Everest to Naina Dhakad on June 1, 2021 at 9 am, on the highest peak of the world, hoisted the flag of Bastar along with the country and the state. Naina hoisted the flag of India and the state in 2 highest peaks of the world in 9 days. This expedition was very special for Naina because when the other climbers came back after giving up due to bad weather and avalanche, Naina showed her determination and achieved the feat of reaching the world’s highest peak. During this, the people who went on mountaineering with them did not even submit one, but stubborn Naina has returned to Kathmandu by submitting 2.
Bastar’s daughter Naina Singh Dhakad, a resident of Takaraguda Bastar, has been preparing to scale Mount Everest for the last 10 years. Before this, she has also climbed many peaks of the Himalayas. Not only this, she also participated in the Snow Man track in Bhutan, in which she was included in the team of Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to scale Everest.
Collector Rajat Bansal informed that Naina had missed the expedition of Everest last time also due to financial reasons. This time on the instructions of Chief Minister Mr. Baghel, with the help of NMDC and district administration, Naina’s dream came true and she illuminated the name of Bastar along with the country and the state. On 1 April 2021, she left Jagdalpur in an expedition to conquer Everest. Mount Everest has been attracting many climbers including highly experienced climbers. Naina has chosen the southeast route into Nepal, a route fraught with dangers from Everest such as altitude sickness, weather and wind, as well as avalanches and the Khumbu Glacier.
On May 13, when most of the world’s team had to cancel the expedition and return to base camp due to bad weather, Naina kept up her courage even after not conquering Everest in the first attempt.
Two back-to-back cyclones Taucate and Yas in a span of 10 days created a lot of problems in these expeditions, this cyclone as well as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic made this year different from last year’s Everest expedition is. After this, on June 1, she first climbed Mount Lahotse which is 8516 meters high and then by measuring the height of 8848.86 meters of Everest, she has become the first woman in the state to register an incredible victory. It was his determination and will that made it possible. Chhattisgarh is an example for the state. The Chief Minister Baghel, District Administration Bastar and NMDC have been behind this campaign.
Earlier it was planned to reach Basecamp on 18 April and summit Everest on 3 May, but due to the difficult climb and weather challenge, there was an opportunity on 13 May, due to sudden change in weather, all the climbers had to return to Base Camp. . When the Nepal Meteorological Department expressed the possibility of opening the weather on 29 May, Naina again started her efforts and along with Mount Everest, the world’s fourth highest peak, Mount Lahotse also conquered. But due to change in weather, Naina faced health issues and had to send a rescue team to rescue her. Naina is expected to reach Basecamp soon.
Naina Singh did her BA from PG College Dharampura after schooling from Maharani Laxmibai School in Dhakad city. Also did DCA, PGDCA, MSW, B.Ed. Later in mountaineering, Basic Mountaineering, Advanced Mountaineering, MOI Course, Rock Basic and Advanced, SNR Search and Rescue Course have been done.
