Korba. The proposal of Industry Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan was approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister. Now all the purchases made by the department will be done through the Gem portal. RCs of 1687 vendors of the state will be cancelled. The draft amendment to the Chhattisgarh Government Store Purchase Rules 2002 (as amended in 2022) was approved. All the departments of the state government etc. will purchase materials, goods and services as per the requirement, whose rates and specifications are available on the Gem website of DGS&D of Government of India, from the Gem website following the prescribed procedure of their rules. In case of additional requirement, the consent of the Finance Department will be required for the purchase of materials, goods and services.

Let us tell you that in Chhattisgarh government, RC was issued for about 114 essential commodities, in which RC of 1687 vendors will be cancelled, with this decision, purchases above 900 crores will now be done directly from GeM. GeM portal was launched by Modi government for government purchases, which was adopted by Raman government, due to this, materials used to be purchased seamlessly at national rate, but the previous Congress government implemented it again, due to which the national level competitive rate was getting lost, to rectify this, the established middleman system has ended, this will make it possible to buy directly from the company or producer, this is going to prove to be an important step towards reducing corruption in the purchases being done in the departments.

All the members of the cabinet accepted this proposal of Industry Minister Lakhan Lal Devangan and approved the important decision of the government. It was also decided to cancel all the rate contracts of CSIDC currently in force at the end of this month. This step has been taken with a view to prevent corruption.

Speaking to the media on the big decision taken in the Cabinet Council, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Co-Chairman CSIDC Lakhan Lal Devangan said that this is a big decision under the zero tolerance policy of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai regarding corruption. Minister Devangan said that in the BJP government, former Chief Minister Raman Singh had started purchasing from the Gem portal, but the Congress government changed it and started purchasing again through CSIDC.
