The time for withdrawal of nominations for the first phase of assembly elections to be held on November 7 was till 3 pm on Monday. No candidate from any recognized party has withdrawn his name. Now there will be competition between 223 candidates on 20 seats. 30 candidates have left the field. Rajnandgaon has maximum 29 candidates. There are also 16 candidates in the fray in Kawardha Assembly.

Deputy CEO US Aggarwal said that 6 in Rajnandgaon, 5 in Kawardha, 3 in Dongargarh, 2 each in Pandaria, Konta and Jagdalpur, 1 in Mohla Manpur, Kanker, Dongargaon, Khairagarh, Bijapur, Dongargaon, Bastar, Dantewada, Antagarh and Bhanupratappur. -1 candidate has withdrawn his name.

43 candidates filled 64 papers

59 nomination papers were filed on Monday for 70 seats in the second phase. So far, 43 candidates have filed 64 forms for these seats. Certification papers have been filed. These include seats in Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg and Surguja divisions. Nominations will be open till 30th October. Last date for withdrawal of nomination is 2nd November. Two EVMs each on two seats.

According to the Returning Officer’s office, out of the seats in the first phase, only two EVMs will be installed at the booths in Rajnandgaon and Kawardha. Actually, there are 15 names in one EVM including NOTA and more candidates are in the fray on both the seats.
