Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma has said that Sadhram was murdered not by weapon but by thoughts. This is a different incident from the Biranpur incident. If necessary, its investigation can also be done by NIA. UAPA has been imposed in the case, and links of people coming and going from Kashmir have also been found. What was the whole matter?
In fact, in Lalpur village adjacent to Kawardha, cattle herder Sadhram Yadav was murdered by slitting his throat on the night of 20 January. Six accused including a minor were arrested in the murder case. The court sent the accused to jail. There was an atmosphere of tension in the city after the incident.
The family returned a check of Rs 5 lakh
Let us tell you that after this incident, VHP and Bajrang observed Kawardha bandh and blockade and demanded death sentence to the culprits. There were continuous protests. The family of the deceased had returned the check of Rs 5 lakh received from the government. There was a demand for hanging.
What is UAPA law?
Section-16 of UAPA (Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act) defines terrorist activity. There is a provision for punishment for those responsible for terrorist incidents. This could result in life imprisonment. At the same time, conspiracy to commit a terrorist incident has been defined under Section 18 of UAPA.
Punishment for terrorist act under section 16 of UAPA
If such act results in the death of any person, the punishment shall be death penalty or imprisonment for life and fine in any other case with imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than five years. It can extend to life imprisonment and fine can also be imposed.
Why was UAPA law imposed?
The UAPA law was brought in 1967 to curb terrorist activities. Under this law, action is taken against those who are suspected in terrorist activities. The UAPA law empowers the National Investigation Agency to seize or confiscate the property of a suspect or an accused.
The UAPA law was introduced with the intention of imposing reasonable limits on fundamental rights under Article 19(1) of the Constitution. The purpose of UAPA is to empower the government to stop activities that challenge the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
CBI investigation announced in Biranpur incident
Chhattisgarh government has announced a CBI inquiry into the Biranpur violence in the assembly. Deputy CM said that investigation is going on in this case under Section 173 CRPC. Names of 40 people were given, out of which names of 12 people were in the FIR. The action will continue in future also. He said that the crime has been registered on the complaint of Bhagirathi Sahu.
