Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Chhattisgarh from April 23. Today he will rest for the night at Raj Bhavan. The Congress party has termed PM Modi’s night stay at Raj Bhavan as a violation of the model code of conduct. The party has complained about this to the Election Commission.

Congress says that Raj Bhavan is the residence of the constitutional head Governor. In such a situation, the Prime Minister’s night rest at the residence of the constitutional head of the state will directly affect the government machinery. This will vitiate the conditions for fair elections.

There should be a ban on night rest

The Congress delegation that reached the Election Commission demands that the PM be banned from staying at the Raj Bhavan. Accusing the BJP, the Congress delegation said that this is a ploy by the BJP to influence the conditions of fair elections, which we oppose.

Will also take recourse to court

The Congress delegation said that we demand that the Election Commission of India should ask to make arrangements for the Prime Minister’s night stay at some other place instead of Raj Bhavan in accordance with his dignity and security needs. If the Prime Minister stays at Raj Bhavan and BJP candidates win from even one Lok Sabha seat, we will directly go to court.
