Raipur. The GST Department has raided M/s Om Roto Printers located at Boriyakala Dhamtari Road and seized Rs 2.88 crore in cash and unaccounted physical stock worth Rs 2.60 crore. M/s Om Roto Printers was primarily engaged in manufacturing and secret supply of packaging materials (films, foils, strips and plastics/items) to various tobacco/pan masala units. On receiving specific intelligence about this, the team raided. Along with the factory premises, the residential premises of the taxpayer were also searched.
During search of the factory premises, it was found that the assessee is involved in manufacturing of packaging material used for tobacco/pan masala/gutkha for various parties doing business in Odisha. He was also found with unaccounted physical stock worth Rs 2.60 crore. The taxpayer could not furnish any information regarding this stock on the basis of his account books, hence the stock was confiscated. Apart from this, during the search of the residential premises of the taxpayer, cash worth Rs 2.88 crore was found. The taxpayer could not give proper/adequate explanation for such huge amount of unaccounted cash. It was confiscated and deposited in the government account. Further investigation is ongoing.
