Raipur. The government has started taking a tough stand against those who violate the Chhattisgarh Custom Milling Rice Procurement Order. The Food Department team today conducted a surprise inspection of rice mills located in Raipur, Dhamtari, Mahasamund and Rajnandgaon districts. During this, the team sealed the rice mill of Rice Mill Association official Gappu Memon located in Gariaband. The Food Department team also reached the rice mill of Raipur MP Brijmohan Agarwal’s nephew located in Dondekala.
Let us tell you that there has been a dispute between the government and the rice millers for the last few days. The millers have stopped custom milling and paddy is not being lifted. Rice millers are adamant about their demands. Now the government has started action against those who violate the rules. During the action today, the team took legal action against the RT Rice Mill of Pramod Jain, General Secretary of the Association. It is being told that despite the mill management registering for custom milling in the Kharif marketing year 2024-2
During the investigation, 390 quintals of Usna rice and 1200 quintals of paddy meant for free sale purpose were found in the mill premises, which was in violation of Chhattisgarh Custom Milling Rice Procurement Order, 2016. The mill premises have been sealed and paddy and rice have been seized. Apart from this, the investigation team also raided Shrivastava Rice Mill, Narayan Rice Mill, Maa Laxmi Rice Mill in Mahasamund district, Akanksha Rice Mill in Dhamtari district, and Atul Rice Mill in Rajnandgaon district and investigation is being conducted.
The investigation team included Tehsildar Babulal Kurre, Naib Tehsildar Rajendra Chandrakar, Assistant Food Officer Bindu Pradhan and other officers.
