Allocation of 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of wheat
During this, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that for this, allocation of 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been made to various government agencies. According to the Consumer Affairs Department, at present the average price of flour in the country is Rs 35 per kg.
Decision taken due to rising price of wheat
The retail price of non-branded flour in the market is Rs 30-40 per kg, while branded flour is being sold at Rs 40-50 per kg. In view of the rise in the price of flour during the festive season due to the continuously increasing price of wheat, the government has decided to sell flour at a cheaper price. The government is selling onions and pulses at cheaper rates.
To provide relief to consumers from the rising prices of onion, the government is selling onion at the rate of ₹ 25 per kg. National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India i.e. NCCF and NAFED are already selling buffer onion at the rate of ₹ 25 per kg.
NCCF is selling onions at subsidized rates at 457 retail stores in 54 cities across 20 states. Whereas NAFED is selling onions at discounted rates at 329 retail stores in 55 cities of 21 states.
Kendriya Bhandar has also started retail sale of onion from its outlets in Delhi-NCR from last Friday. Apart from this, the government is providing Bharat Dal (gram pulses) at the price of Rs 60 per kg.
