Gaurela Pendra Marwahi, 11 October 2023/ During the Assembly General Elections 2023, due to slogans being written on government and non-government buildings for election campaign by political parties and their candidates and flags related to election campaign being put on electricity and telephone poles, the government -The form of non-government property gets distorted. Without the written permission of the owner of the property, if he defaces any property which is in public view by writing or marking it with ink, paint or any other substance, then it will be punishable and will be punishable as contained in Section 3 of the Chhattisgarh Prevention of Deformation of Property Act 1994. Under the provisions, fine can be up to one thousand rupees. Any offense punishable under this Act will be cognizable.
In the order issued by Collector and District Election Officer Mrs. Priyanka Rishi Mahobia, it has been said that as per the instructions of the Election Commission, strict action has to be taken as per the provisions of the law prevalent in the state regarding defacement of property, hence it is hereby directed that Chhattisgarh property Effective action should be taken by ensuring strict compliance with the provisions of Prevention of Distortion Act 1994. If, during the entire election process, the walls of government and non-government buildings are defaced by writing any kind of slogans by various political parties or contesting candidates, then Action will be taken against them under the provisions of Chhattisgarh Prevention of Defacement of Property Act 1994.
