Raipur . In Raipur, a unique protest against illegal felling of trees has been done by the colony residents. Today, more than 50 people united and took out a candle march in protest against tActually, the matter is of Dondekhurd Housing Board Colony of Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, where local residents have accused the newly elected Sarpanch of illegally cutting trees in the colony. Local people told in conversation that they have been taking care of the trees for many years. These maintain the groundwater level of the area, as well as the beauty of nature. But for the past few days, trees were being continuously cut and destroyed.

Srishti Seva Sankalp volunteer organization wrote a letter to the collector to stop the cutting of trees. In its letter, the organization has written that the Sarpanch of Dondekhurd is in the wood business, and immediately after cutting, all the trees were shifted from the colony in vehicles. In such a situation, trees have been cut for commercial purposes. Founder Neema Gupta said that the forest department was informed first. The flying squad reached the spot and inspected, but citing that it was in the revenue area, they were asked to approach the administration. By the time the administration took cognizance after writing the letter, many trees had already been cut.

The local people have demanded that the person cutting the trees should be strictly investigated so that such a situation does not arise again and the environment is not harmed.
