Former minister Moonat raised a big issue… demanded 10.5 meter wide service road on both sides of Ring Road-1… requested Union Minister Gadkari to give 80 crores
Raipur . Veteran BJP MLA from Raipur West and former minister Rajesh Munat has raised a big issue. He says that Ring Road-1 between Tatibandh and Telibandha has now become a city road, because there is dense population on both sides. For this population, there is currently a service road of three meters each, which is not at all sufficient. There is an immediate need to increase the width of the service road on both sides to ten and a half meters each, so that lakhs of people living on both sides of Ring Road-1 can get a safe road. He has submitted a memorandum to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at Mana Airport along with Chhattisgarh Deputy CM and PWD Minister Arun Saw. Rajesh Munat has requested Minister Gadkari that since Ring Road-1 is a part of the National Highway, approve a project of Rs 80 crore to increase the width of the service road on both sides, so that the people of Raipur can get great relief.
Rajesh Moonat has been considered a visionary in the matter of roads and infrastructure. Many major roads of Raipur, widening of many major roads and construction of flyovers-underbridges have been done during his tenure. On Friday, Deputy CM Saw met Minister Gadkari and handed over a two-page memorandum. In this memorandum, it has been said that a large part of the side of Raipur’s Ring Road-1, built 30 years ago, has been developed as a commercial area in the past years. There are big complexes, marriage halls, showrooms and many markets on both sides of this road, and dense population has settled on both sides. The only support for this population is the service roads built on both sides of Ring Road-1, which are mostly only five meters wide. Due to which not only traffic jams are created, but the risk of accidents has also increased. Former minister Moonat said that the traffic conditions have deteriorated badly at Agrasen Dham turning, Krishi Vivi turning, Archbridge turning, Katoratalab turning, Santoshinagar turning, Kushalpur turning, Raipura turning, Bhatgaon turning and Pachpedinaaka turning on this road. Underbridges etc. have been built here to provide relief to the people, but these are proving to be insufficient at the time of traffic pressure.
Moonat told not only the problem but also the solution
Former minister Munat not only told the Union Minister Gadkari about the problem, but also suggested a solution for it. He said that the traffic conditions on both sides of Ring Road-1 are already bad, but the situation can get worse in the coming times, because the service roads on both sides are only 5-5 meters wide on an average. He said that if the width of both the service roads is increased by 3.5-3.5 meters, then the roads will become 10-10 and a half meters wide. If both the service roads are made one-way after increasing the width, then they will look attractive as well as convenient. Not only this, the problems faced during VIP movement from the airport to NIT-Science College Ground via Ring Road-1 will also be resolved, which were seen during the recent President’s visit. Former minister Munat urged Union Minister Gadkari that approximately Rs 80 crore will be spent to immediately increase the width of these service roads. If this amount is approved by the Union Transport Ministry, then a major problem of Raipur can be solved. Let us tell you that on this ring road, Minister Gadkari has recently approved three overbridges so that the traffic problem
