According to the information, Gariaband rural area’s Patwari Lokesh Sahu had received a complaint that Rajesh Chandrakar, a resident of Chikhli, had talked to Naseem Warsi, the operator of Warsi Shaw Mill, to cut 11 Nilgiri trees from his farm, but the operator of Warsi Shaw Mill cut two trees of the medicinal species Arjun (Kahua) along with 11 Nilgiri trees and transported them to his mill. On getting information about the case, Gariaband DFO Laxman Singh and SDM Vishal Maharana formed an investigation team by forming a team of their subordinate employees. After which the forest department team reached Warsi Shamil and started the investigation. During this, the forest department team found five wooden logs and one sleeper illegally cut inside Warsi Shaw Mill. After a day-long investigation by the department, action was taken to seal Warsi Shaw Mill late in the evening.
Penalty will be imposed on the operator
Gariaband DFO Laxman Singh confirmed the case and said that the saw mill has been sealed under the Cast Chiran Act and further investigation is going on. Further action will be taken on the basis of whatever facts come out in the investigation. Tehsildar Doneshwar Sahu said that after receiving information about illegal cutting of trees from the Patwari, a Panchnama has been done on the spot, investigation is going on by the department. After the investigation, a penalty will be imposed on the operator of Warsi Shaw Mill.
