Gariaband. By demolishing the coffer dam of the intake well under construction for the Supabeda water supply scheme, the mafia has created a path in the river for illegal transportation of sand and is loading the highway from Chain Mountain. Threatened to withhold royalty if work was stopped. The frightened contractor informed PHE about the incident and demanded action.
In Senmuda Ghat of Tel River, sand mafias have started illegally transporting sand by damaging the coffer dam built for the construction of intake well. Before digging the intake well to be built on the Tel River for the Senmuda Water Supply Scheme, Kafar Dam was constructed by bringing soil from outside. Site Engineer Sheshnarayan of Mahavir Bore Well has made a written complaint to PHE EE Pankaj Jain in the name of the former sand contractor.
Told that in the morning some people entered the river with a chain mountain and demolished the Kafar Dam to make way for sand extraction. On refusal, the young man who came to get the digging done started threatening him, calling himself the man of the owner of the sand mine. When asked to complain, the side engineer was even threatened with withholding the royalty for the sand used for the construction work. Dominant sand mafias carried out illegal transportation of sand from Chain Mountain across the highway throughout the day.
The game is taking place under the cover of dump pit nearby.
The tender for Kumhari Ghat has been issued by the Mineral Department in Devbhog tehsil. Due to lack of NOC from the Transport Department, royalty for this mine has not been released. The former contractor of Karchia mine has got the peat pass from the Mineral Department for dumping sand. It is said that sand is being sold from there itself. There was huge supply of sand throughout the year, but dumping of sand has not ended till date. Similarly, under the guise of dumping sand, illegal mining and transportation of sand is being done by changing ghats.
Illegal transportation of sand becomes a hindrance
The work of Supabeda water supply scheme is going on for two months at a cost of about Rs 10 crore. Mahavir Borewell has got this work. An intake well is being built inside the river to supply water from the Tel River to the water removal plant being built above the Supebeda settlement. To prevent sudden flow of water from entering the construction area during construction, Kafar Dam is being constructed within a radius of 50 meters. For this, the contract company had brought soil from outside and surrounded the river at three ends. But the main dam was broken to make way for illegal transportation.
Transportation task force created
In this matter, PHE Pankaj Jain said that Illegal Transport Task Force has been formed, apart from giving them information, a letter will be written to the Collector requesting for necessary action.
