55-year-old Rameshchandra Verma, originally from Meghpura in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh, was posted as a health worker in 1998. Seeing the lack of greenery in the area, he started planting trees in 1998. Rameshchandra Verma also planted the first banyan tree in a public place in Sithlijor and kept looking after it himself. So far, in more than 20 villages of the block including Khutgaon, Karchia, Tikrapara, Phundelpara, Chichia, Mahulkot, Bhatrabahli, Magarroda, Dhorkot, Seenapali, 950 of Amla, 200 of Jackfruit, 4 of Hibiscus, 4 of Mango, 6 of Ashok, Have planted 2 Kanher and 35 Banyan trees.
