 Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development reviewed the departmental works through video conferencing

 

Raipur. 3 April 2020/Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri T.S. Singhdev today reviewed the progress of departmental plans through video conferencing with senior officials and chief executive officers of the Zilla Panchayat of all districts. In the video conferencing, he gave instructions to conduct the activities that strengthen the rural economy on priority. He called for emphasizing the work of individual and livelihood promotion under MNREGA. He directed to include both these activities as well as nutrition in convergence with the schemes of other departments. Principal Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Department Mr. Gaurav Dwivedi and Secretary Mr. T.C. Mahawar was also present in the video conferencing.

Mr. Singhdev directed to take adequate precautions in the conduct of all schemes to avoid infection with the corona virus. He asked to ensure adherence to all guidelines and social distancing issued by the government in this regard. He called for starting such works under MNREGA which require small number of workers. The Panchayat and Rural Development Minister also instructed to ensure adequate availability of food grains in all gram panchayats. He said that such arrangements should be ensured in the villages that no family has to suffer in the event of lock-down due to Kovid-19.

Shri Singh Dev appreciated the work being done by the women of self-help groups formed under the National Rural Livelihood Mission to meet the scarcity of masks and sanitizers under the present circumstances. It was told in the video conferencing that these women have so far produced five and a half lakh masks and 604 liters of sanitizer. Their masks and sanitizers are being used by gram panchayats, district panchayats, municipal corporations, health and police departments. They are also being supplied in local markets.

The Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development, with the help of the cleaners of Swachh Bharat Mission, called upon the villagers to be aware of the cleanliness, right way to wash hands and the disease to prevent infection of corona virus. He also reviewed the works of the State Rural Livelihoods Mission, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the Panchayat Directorate in video conferencing. Director of National Rural Livelihood Mission, Mr. Abhijeet Singh, Director of Panchayat Directorate Mr. S. Prakash and Additional Development Commissioner Shri Ashok Choubey also participated in the video conferencing.
