Mungeli. A case of fraud and embezzlement of more than Rs 39 lakh has come to light in Seva Sahakari Samiti of village Akhrar in the district. An FIR has been lodged in Chilfi police station against paddy procurement in-charge Dilip Jaiswal and computer operator Rajendra Jaiswal.
The collector has instructed to lift the remaining paddy from the committees immediately and take strict action against the concerned if any kind of irregularity is found. Assistant Commissioner Cooperative Hitesh Kumar Shrivas said that during the physical verification in Seva Sahakari Samiti Limited Akhrar, a total shortage of 1268.10 quintals of paddy was found, the total amount of which is Rs 39 lakh 31 thousand 110. He said that on the instructions of the collector, departmental teams are engaged in paddy lifting in the district. In the same sequence, on receiving a complaint about Akhrar procurement center, Cooperative Extension Officer NK Kashyap and supervisor Vijay Kumar Ratre went to the spot and conducted physical verification and investigation. The complaint of irregularity was found to be true and the purchase in-charge and operator were found guilty of irregularities in about 1268.10 quintals of paddy. After this, an order was issued to register an FIR. On the written application of branch manager Dindori Gaukaran Singh Chaturvedi, a crime has been registered in Chilfi police station against the paddy purchase in-charge and computer operator for fraud and embezzlement.

The committee employees say that the marketing department makes a contract to lift the paddy within 72 hours but this does not happen at all. Despite months passing, the CMO could not lift the paddy. Even when the High Court recently ordered to lift the paddy by 30 April, despite this, the whole month of April passed but still about 90 thousand quintals of paddy is left to be lifted in the 77 procurement centers of the district. They say that the shortage is being compensated only by the committee employees, whereas is there no accountability of the CMO who delays in getting the paddy lifted.
