Durg 16 April 2021. Corona infection has decreased by 16 percent in Durg district in the last one week, according to the analysis of antigen test data. On April 10, antigen tests of about 2596 people were conducted, out of which 1259 were positive. These were 48 percent of the total figures. On Thursday, April 15, 2723 people tested through antigen. Of these, 879 were positive. This is 32 percent of the total figures. If you look at the statistics for the last four days, the rate of infection has been 36, 33, 30 and 32 percent respectively. The gradual decline in antigen tests thus proves that the lockdown appears to be effective in the district and has prevented corona infection. Since the antigen test results are available on the spot, their results clearly state the infection status every day.
It is clear from the review of the results of the antigen test that if the lockdown is not applied then the fast growing infection – now let us look at the data that would have affected the decision of the lockdown. The lockdown was imposed on 6 April. There were 2659 tests on this day and 529 were positive. It was 20 percent of the total patients. The next day this figure was 34 percent, then it was 40 and 41 percent for two days and then 48 percent for the next two days. This shows how fast the infection was progressing. The lockdown halted its pace. If the lockdown was not imposed, this percentage would have increased manifold. This question may arise in the mind that why the antigen test did not show better results within two-three days of the lockdown. The reason for this is that the corona virus is an infectious disease and symptoms develop for two to three days, so the infection does not stop immediately after the lockdown, It takes some time. Along with this, the reason is that this wave has seen the effect of infection on the whole family. If one person in the family is not taken care of, then there is a possibility of infection of the whole family. This happened in most cases. It is clear from these figures that the timing of the lockdown was correct and its results have been effective. It is noteworthy that the lock-down was imposed on April 6 by Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure.
Lockdown is the most effective way to prevent infectious diseases – history has been witness to infectious diseases. When there were sudden deaths in Europe from such a virus, it was called the Black Death and people used to decide quarantine. In India also, upon falling ill, purify after a period of fourteen days. When Lord Jagannath is ill, he spends a period of fourteen days in Gundicha temple. Actually, the ability of the virus to be reduced by the lockdown, because when it does not get new bodies for infection, its spread rate starts to decrease. This is the reason that lockdown has been used in all countries of the world to prevent infection to a large community.
