Raipur . Narcotics Inspector General of Police Ajay Yadav held a virtual meeting of the nodal officers of the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the districts at the Police Headquarters today. In this meeting, important instructions were given regarding the seizure of narcotics, arrest of criminals and action against illegal properties.
1329 cases registered, drugs worth Rs 49.37 crore seized
IG Ajay Yadav told in the meeting that 1329 cases were registered in the year 2024, in which ganja (24631.3 kg), brown sugar (335.4 grams), opium (1.36 kg) and other drugs were seized, whose total value was estimated to be around Rs 49.37 crore. During this period, 2149 accused were arrested, including foreign nationals. Till February 2025, 340 accused have been arrested in 192 cases.

First major action under SAFEMA
For the first time in the state, illegal property worth Rs 5.56 crore was confiscated under SAFEMA (Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators Act). Under the Pit NDPS Act, detention orders were issued against 83 accused and they were sent to jail, while action is being taken to confiscate seized vehicles in 211 cases.
Instructions for action on illegal properties of drug dealers
IG Yadav has given instructions to conduct financial investigation and end-to-end investigation in cases of big seizures. More and more cases should be prepared and sent to the competent authority to seize the illegal property of drug traffickers under SAFEMA.
Promote anti-addiction campaign
Nodal officers were instructed to inspect de-addiction centres and publicise the “Manas Helpline” (toll free number 1933) and “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan”. ANTF officers from all districts including CID ASP Pooja Agarwal were present in the meeting.
