NMDC came forward to help in the fight against Kovid-19
Raipur. 01 April 2020. Navratna company NMDC has also paid an advance royalty of Rs 200 crore to the Chhattisgarh government to prevent this epidemic, after giving Rs 150 crore to the Prime Minister’s Care Fund to help fight against the corona virus. . With this amount, the state government will be able to provide necessary resources to the people to protect them from Kovid-19. The decision was informed by the CMD of the company itself and senior IAS of Chhattisgarh cadre N. Baijendra Kumar on Tuesday through microblogging site Twitter.
During this epidemic of corona virus, while the crisis has deepened in the country and the world, Navratna company NMDC has once again come forward to help. NMDC has become a unique corporate providing support to both the Central and State Governments by paying an advance royalty of Rs 200 crore to the state government in difficult times after contributing Rs 150 crore to the Central Government’s PMKers Fund. With this contribution, medical and health services will be improved by the central and state governments. Testing kits, protective gear and ventilators for health workers, etc. will be purchased to check the virus. Also, this money will also help in providing food and other important things to the needy people.
Speaking on the occasion, CMD of the company Mr. N. Baijendra Kumar said that, “NMDC has always stood by the people in difficult times and this decision has been taken by the Chhattisgarh State Government to strengthen the ongoing struggle against the corona virus. We are forever grateful to the state and central governments and the public, and will always work together and move forward to face any such natural disaster. ”
Significantly, NMDC has taken a comprehensive initiative in its various projects and their surrounding areas located in other parts of the country including Chhattisgarh to prevent the spread of corona virus (Kovid-19). Arrangements are being made to protect against novel corona virus under the supervision of specialist doctors at Nagarnar Steel Plant in Jagdalpur and Bailadila iron ore mines in Dantewada. Isolation centers are built at a distance from the population. The company is distributing free masks and sanitizers under CSR to villagers and other needy along with its personnel. Volunteer groups, especially women in need of women from Dantewada, have been selected to make mask-sanitizers. So that their income can also increase with the protection from corona virus.
To prevent the spread of this epidemic and to promote personal hygiene, the company management has given a thousand rupees separately to all regular workers – officers, contracted and daily wage workers. Apart from this, personnel and local people are being informed about social distancing for various means.
