Contract officers and employees who went on strike have been ordered to return to work within three days.

Raipur, July 25, 2023: The State Government has announced salary hike after sympathetically considering the demands of the officers/employees working on contract. Even after this, it has been brought to the notice of the government that under the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Contract Appointment) Rules, 2012, contract officers/employees working in various departments are on continuous strike in connection with their demands and because of this public interest/civil services and government work are being affected and people are being inconvenienced.

In this regard, the General Administration Department has issued an order saying that even after the increment, the contract officers and employees are not attending their work. The above act is a violation of the Cover Rules 1965 as per clause 15 (1) of the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Contract Appointment) Rules 2012.

As per the orders of the General Administration Department, the contract officers/employees who have gone on strike have been asked to issue information within a time period of three days by the concerned employer to attend their work immediately. It has been said in the order that the services in respect of which ESMA (Chhattisgarh Essential Services Maintenance and Prevention of Disruption Act, 1979) is applicable by using the powers conferred by sub-section (1) and (2) of Section-4 and action should be taken under ESMA if the concerned officer/employee is not present at work even after the issued notice. Along with this, necessary action should be taken under the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Contractual Appointment) Rules, 2012 and alternative arrangements should be made for other officers/employees in their place.
