Today (Monday) is the last day to file nomination for Chhattisgarh Assembly elections. CM Bhupesh Baghel reached Durg election office and filed his nomination as Patan candidate. The special thing was that Bhupesh’s proposer was Janjgir resident Birendra Thakur, who used to hit his hands with a stick every year during Gaura-Gauri Puja.

Like every time, before leaving the house for Bhupesh Baghel’s nomination, his wife Mukteshwari Baghel applied tilak to him and presented him a rose flower. Congress candidates from all 6 assemblies of the district including Bhupesh Baghel had reached Durg District Election Office on Monday afternoon. Assembly Speaker Dr. Charan Das Mahant, Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu and others were present during the CM’s nomination. CM Bhupesh Baghel reaches Janjgiri every year on Gaura Gauri Puja, a traditional festival of Chhattisgarh. Here he also gets a stick beaten in his hands for the prosperity of the state and the country. This tradition has been going on for many years. Earlier, Birendra’s father Bharosa Thakur used to hit CM Bhupesh Baghel with this stick. After his demise, now his son Birendra Thakur is carrying forward this tradition. Remembered the political guru before nomination.

CM Bhupesh Baghel remembered his political guru Dau Vasudev Chandrakar before his nomination. On his 15th death anniversary, garlanded his statue in the fort. After this, took his blessings and left for nomination. The program for nomination has not been decided yet.

October 30 is the last day for filing nominations. Today, Congress candidates from all the 6 assemblies of Durg district arrived with Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to file their nominations. After nomination, the Chief Minister will attend the program of National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi in Bilaspur, Jalbandha and other places. Candidates arrived for mass nomination.
