Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai today inaugurated the state-wide paddy procurement mega festival from farmers at the support price in Chhattisgarh state from Bhantgaon (B) paddy procurement center in Balod district. With the start of paddy procurement, the government has given a big relief to the farmers. Now Rs 10,000 will be given immediately at paddy procurement centers. Keeping in view the immediate needs of the farmers, the Sai government has taken an important decision.
Let us tell you that the purchase of paddy from farmers has started in the state from 14 November, which will continue till 31 January 2025. After reaching Bhantgaon (B) Procurement Center, Chief Minister Sai worshiped the electronic weighing and other equipment and welcomed the farmers present there by garlanding them. The Chief Minister also wished the farmers on the commencement of the paddy procurement mahaparva.

In the presence of the Chief Minister, farmer Bhagbali of village Bhatgaon sold a total of 148 quintals and Hariram sold 65 quintals 20 kg of paddy. Farmer Bhagbali and Hariram looked very happy to get the opportunity to sell their paddy in front of the Chief Minister. A total of 06 farmers’ tokens were issued for paddy purchase on November 14 at the said procurement center. On this occasion, Chief Minister Sai also inaugurated the new branch building of the newly constructed District Service Cooperative Central Bank Branch Limited Durg at a cost of Rs 30 lakh in village Mohndipat of Gunderdehi development block. Chief Minister Sai earlier garlanded the oil painting of Chhattisgarh Mahtari. At the venue, the Chief Minister inaugurated the program by lighting a lamp on the oil painting of Shaheed Birsa Munda and Gahira Guru.
2,739 centers have been set up in the state for purchasing paddy
It is worth noting that paddy purchase from registered farmers in Chhattisgarh state will be done till 31 January 2025 at the support price. The state government has ensured payment to the farmers in their bank accounts within 72 hours in lieu of the paddy sold by them. 2,739 centers have been set up for paddy purchase in the state. This year, the total area of paddy sown by 27,01,109 registered farmers for selling paddy is 34,51,729 hectares. There are 1,35,891 new farmers among the registered farmers.
MP Bhojraj Nag, MLA Kunwar Singh Nishad, District Panchayat President Sonadevi Deshalhra, former MLAs Birendra Sahu and Rajendra Rai, State President of Kanwar Samaj Harbansh Miri, senior public representative Pawan Sahu, former District Panchayat President Devlal Thakur, District President of Kanwar Samaj Kesh Kumar Thakur along with other public representatives and officers of various communities, farmers and villagers were present in the program.
More than 6513 tonnes of paddy was purchased in Raipur district on the first day
The work of paddy procurement from farmers at the support price in Kharif marketing year 2024-25 has started from today. This year the total number of registered farmers in Raipur district is 139275. The total registered area is 142043.88 (area in hectares). Out of these, the number of farmers selling paddy is 1975. The area of paddy sold is 1255.31 and the percentage of farmers selling paddy is 1.42 and the percentage of area purchased against the registered area is 0.88 Total quantity of paddy purchased – 6513.80 (quantity in tonnes) Paddy was procured smoothly.
