Christmas festival was celebrated in all the churches of Raipur on Monday. Lord Jesus Christ was worshiped with special prayers. People were coming to the church throughout the day. The church located at Daganiya in Raipur was also specially decorated.
This church, built in 1901, is always especially decorated during Christmas. Cakes of two flavors were prepared especially for the people coming here. The process of making dry fruit cake starts three days in advance.
A tableau of Lord Jesus was also made in the church. People were seen lighting candles here and everyone sought their wishes from Lord Jesus on Christmas Evening. There is a steady flow of people coming and going in the church of Chhattisgarh since morning. People are celebrating and congratulating each other. The birth of Lord Jesus was awaited since the night of 24th December. As soon as the Lord was born, joy echoed in Asia’s second largest church in Jashpur. A 25 feet high Christmas tree has been built in Bilaspur. Time capsule is buried in the Christian community of Durg.
