For those Naxalites who want to surrender and return to the mainstream of society, our government is providing better life and rehabilitation facilities. Those who leave the path of violence and adopt the path of republic are welcome.
Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, while congratulating the security forces on the continuous surrender of Naxalites in different districts of Bastar division, and paying tribute to their indomitable courage, said that today 7 Maoists have surrendered in Kanker district, on whom a total reward of Rs 32 lakh was declared. Earlier, 27 Naxalites of Narayanpur district and 9 Naxalites of Sukma district, carrying a reward of Rs 52 lakh, have surrendered before the security forces. This is a direct result of our government’s effective surrender policy and the continuous campaigns being run to eradicate Naxalism.
CM Sai said that so far 941 Naxalites have surrendered, while 1,112 Naxalites have been arrested by our security forces. 265 Naxalites have been killed in Naxalite encounters. Naxalites are surrendering due to the hollow ideology of Naxalism and in the hope of a better life. This is an indication that Naxalism is now counting its last breaths.
Chief Minister Sai said that I often meet surrendered Naxalites during my Bastar tour. It is clear from my conversation with them that they are living a better life today and are happy, having given up the hollow Maoist ideology. To eliminate the Naxal base in the identified villages of the highly Naxal-affected districts, the government is developing infrastructure and basic necessities through government schemes.
He said that 15 thousand Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojanas have been approved for surrendered Naxalites and Naxal-affected families. The terror of Maoism will end within the stipulated time frame. An atmosphere of peace and tranquility will soon be established in Bastar.
