Chhattisgarh State Information Commission on two public information officers for negligence in giving information

The Chhattisgarh State Information Commission has imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on two public information officers for negligence in giving information. These officers include a then Tehsildar and a then Sub Engineer. State Information Commissioner Manoj Trivedi has imposed this fine on the concerned public information officers for negligence in disposing of the application received under the Right to Information Act and not implementing it within the time limit. During the hearing of a case, it was found that the then Public Information Officer of Raipur Tehsil was given an application in March 2019 by the applicant to observe the documents related to demarcation. But the Public Information Officer issued the information for perusal to the applicant after a delay of 3 years.

In this regard, the Commission issued a notice to the then Public Information Officer to reply, to which he did not respond. For this reason, a fine of Rs 25 thousand has been imposed on the then Public Information Officer and Tehsildar Raipur and present Regional Transport Officer Bilaspur Amit Beck.

While in the second case, the then Public Information Officer of Municipality Ratanpur did not dispose of the original application within the time limit and did not submit the reply to the Commission on the subject of the information of the documents related to the nomination related files, and Devendra Pahadi, currently posted in Municipal Council, Bade Bacheli, District Dantewada, has been fined Rs 25,000.
