New Delhi. Bilaspur Lok Sabha MP Tokhan Sahu took oath as Union Minister of State in the Modi Cabinet. He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by President Draupadi Murmu at the swearing-in ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Bilaspur MP Tokhan Sahu has been included as Minister of State in the third term of the Modi Cabinet and will represent Chhattisgarh.
Let us tell you that in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, Tokhan Sahu defeated Congress candidate Devendra Yadav from Bilaspur constituency by a huge margin of 1 lakh 64 thousand 558 votes. Tokhan Sahu got 7 lakh 24 thousand 937 votes, while Devendra Yadav got 5 lakh 60 thousand 379 votes.
Tokhan Sahu was born on 15 October 1969 in Dindori village of Mungeli district. He has studied up to M.Com. He is married to Lilavati Sahu, with whom he has a son and a daughter. His political career began in 1994 when he was elected unopposed as Panch of Surajpura village of Lormi block. On 30 January 2005, he became a Zilla Parishad member from Lormi area number-18 Phulwari Kala.
In 2012, he became the representative of District Cooperative Bank Bilaspur. He became the patron of District Sahu Samaj. He became the General Secretary of BJP West Division. In 2013, BJP made him a candidate by giving him a ticket from Lormi Assembly. He defeated Congress candidate and sitting MLA Dharmjeet Singh in the election.
In 2018, the BJP once again expressed confidence in him and fielded him from Lormi assembly constituency, but he lost to Janata Congress candidate Dharamjit Singh. In the 2023 assembly elections, he was in charge of Navagarh assembly constituency of Bemetara district.
