Raipur. The Urban Administration and Development Department has released a total councilor fund of Rs 66 crore six lakh to 166 urban bodies of the state. After the approval of Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration Minister Arun Saw, the department has released a councilor fund of Rs 21 crore 96 lakh to 14 municipal corporations, Rs 20 crore 70 lakh to 48 municipalities and Rs 23 crore 40 lakh to 104 Nagar Panchayats. This amount has been provided for the development of urban bodies and to meet the basic needs of the citizens. This fund will be used for the development of wards and to complete the necessary works.This amount of councillor fund released to urban bodies is 50 percent of the total fund set for the current financial year 2024-25. Earlier in July this year, an allocation of Rs 65 crore 72 lakh 24 thousand was released to the bodies. As councillor fund, six lakh rupees have been provisioned for each ward in municipal corporations, four and a half lakh rupees for each ward in municipalities and three lakh rupees for each ward in Nagar Panchayats.
Recently, councillors of various urban bodies met Deputy Chief Minister and departmental minister Arun Saw and demanded the release of the amount of councillor fund. Saw took immediate action on their demand and directed the department to release the councillor fund soon. He has asked the urban bodies to use this fund with transparency and accountability. Along with this, he has instructed to implement all the works with the recommendations of the councillors keeping in mind the needs of the wards.
Saav has expressed hope that the infrastructure at the ward level will be strengthened through the councillor fund, which will bring a positive change in the living standards of the citizens. The aim of the government is to provide better civic amenities to everyone. He has instructed the officials to ensure quality and time limit in all the works done from the councillor fund.
