Rivers, drains and dams are in spate due to continuous rains in Chhattisgarh for a week. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for several districts including Durg for the next 72 hours. There is a possibility of heavy rains for the coming 3 days.

The possibility of heavy rains has also been expressed in some districts of Raipur, Surguja and Bastar divisions. Talking about Durg district, it has been raining continuously since Thursday and Friday. Due to this, all the ponds, dams, rivers and drains of the district are in spate. The water level of Mahanadi has increased due to intermittent rains in Janjgir district as well. The river flow is 7 feet below the bridge. The height of Shabri Setu bridge is 729 feet. In which water is filled up to 722 feet. The district administration team is also present on the spot to continue the movement. Apart from this, 60 divers have been deployed. The police team is also continuously monitoring. Durg district has received 90.7 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. 57.2 mm of rainfall was recorded on Wednesday night. Till 5 pm on Thursday, 18.2 mm of rain was recorded. On Friday, 15.3 mm of rain was recorded. Due to incessant rains, all the underbridges have been filled with water. Water is flowing over the roads. Waterlogging is being created in the lower settlements, water filled in all the underbridges
Water logging has started in all the underbridges of Bhilai. The condition is that the Supela and Chandra-Maurya under bridges have been closed due to water-logging. Still people are coming and going from here risking their lives. Same is the condition of Nehru Nagar, Power House and Durg Over Bridge.
