The ED team presented businessman Anwar Dhebar in the court on Wednesday in connection with the Rs 2,000 crore liquor scam in Chhattisgarh. Anwar threatened to commit suicide in front of the judge alleging harassment by the ED. ED has extended the remand of Anwar Dhebar by 5 days.

On Wednesday, Anwar Dhebar told the judge that the ED was harassing him and pressurizing him to name the CM and his family members. If this continues, I will commit suicide and ED will be responsible for it. Ajay Singh Rajput was presented in the court after 4 days remand of businessman Anwar Dhebar. Along with this, hotelier Nitesh Purohit has also been presented. Nitesh Purohit’s health deteriorated in the court.

Businessman Nitesh Purohit, arrested by the ED in this case, was also produced in the court. Where suddenly his health deteriorated. After which the court has directed to take him to AIIMS for treatment. It is being told that Nitesh is a hotel businessman and his strings are also connected with hawala.

Crowd reached the court in support of Anwar

A large number of people, mostly women, reached the court premises in support of Corobari Anwar Dhebar. Due to the crowd, the police stopped the people who reached here outside. Anwar Dhebar was taken into custody by ED 5 days back. In the press release issued by ED, Anwar Dhebar has been said to be connected with the liquor scam worth Rs 2,000 crore in the state. Anwar Dhebar is the brother of Raipur’s mayor Ejaz Dhebar, hence the crowd of supporters is engaged in the court premises. In this context, the security here has also been increased. In view of the security, the media has also been barred outside. The talk of 2000 crore liquor scam was said to be fabricated.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has said in this matter that as the elections are coming closer, the frustration of the BJP is increasing. A conspiracy is being hatched to defame the state government through ED. The CM said that I had already said that ED and IT will remain here permanently and as soon as the elections are held, these people will hatch new conspiracies.

As far as liquor is concerned, the sale through the Liquor Tax Corporation is the decision. It is a matter of Raman government’s time in 2017 and in 2017-18 about 3900 crores were received from the Central Excise. In the year 2017-18, 3900 crore was received from the excise item and it increased to 6000 crore during our reign. Second thing is that in 2017 there was no change in distillers and businessmen, transporters, placement agencies related to liquor business.

The continuous increase in excise shows that the allegation made by ED about some kind of so-called scam and reduction in state’s liquor revenue is fabricated. When the revenue has increased one and a half times, then your allegation becomes false.

The CM said that the CAG is a department of the Government of India and the CAG has given a clean chit to the Excise Department of the Government of Chhattisgarh in its audit. In February 2020, the Income Tax team had raided the persons belonging to the Excise Department and at that time also there was a lot of hue and cry through the media that a note counting machine had been found at So-and-so’s place. Property worth crores was found at someone’s place, but the IT department could not issue a press release at that time because nothing was found at anyone’s place.

Then in March 2023 means after 13 months ED raided again but they had to face embarrassment and they did not issue any press release. In that also we had said that if the ED has raided then issue a press release.
