Chhattisgarh: Administration Department has issued an order that there will be holiday on the day of voting: Private sector workers will have to give leave in shift for voting.

Voting for the second phase of assembly in Chhattisgarh is to be held on November 17. In view of the elections, Chhattisgarh General Administration Department has issued an order. According to the order, for the second phase, a general holiday has been declared in all government offices and institutions in the respective 70 assembly constituencies on 17 November 2023.

Apart from this, instructions have been issued to give paid leave to officers and employees in private institutions, industrial and commercial establishments. As per the instructions of the Election Commission, the Labor Department has issued an order to give paid leave on the voting day to the employees working in industrial, commercial and other establishments for the Assembly elections.

Voting is on November 17 and November 30

It has been told in the order that under Section 135 (B) of the Public Representation Act 151, industrial, commercial and other establishments operating in every constituency should ensure that paid leave is given to the employees on the voting day. As per the instructions of the Commission, Chhattisgarh Neighboring states Madhya Pradesh and Telangana where voting for Assembly General Elections 2023 is on November 17 and November 30.

A two-hour holiday should be declared on the day of voting.

Many voters from neighboring states who are employed in private or public establishments/shops, industrial trades/businesses in Chhattisgarh. Such employed/working relatives have also been declared paid holiday on the polling day of their home state. It has been clarified in the order that in such factories which work seven days a week, a holiday of two hours each should be declared for the first and second shift workers on the day of voting.

Workers should be provided the facility to vote out of turn

Factories come under the continuous process, workers working in them should be provided the facility to vote out of turn. Voting facility will be provided to all working workers or employees, whether they are daily wage earners or casual workers.
