Action has been taken against those who keep and sell illegal liquor in Chhattisgarh. The Excise Department of the state has taken strict action after the displeasure of the Election Commission. Under which 191 persons have been arrested in the border area of the state in the last 48 hours in cases of illicit liquor.
2400 liters of liquor seized
Chhattisgarh’s Excise Commissioner Janak Prasad Pathak said that on August 26 and 27, the Excise Department set up check points at 31 places in the border districts of the state. On checking the vehicles passing through there, 2400 liters of illicit liquor worth about Rs 16 lakh has been seized. In this action, 191 people have been arrested from different places. Action has been taken against them under the Excise Act. Apart from this, 37 thousand kg of illegal Mahuva has been seized in the investigation of trucks.
Passengers will also be investigated due to upcoming elections
According to the information, the Excise Department is working closely with the Railway Police and the State Police regarding the assembly elections to be held this year. In which the luggage of passengers in railway stations, trains, bus stands and buses are also being checked. So that illegal transportation of drugs can be controlled. For this, the Excise Department has also issued a toll free number 14405. In which people can complain about liquor shops and illegal sellers.
