Dhamtari. A case of cheating by luring dollars has come to light. Police have arrested two accused who cheated in shops by pretending to be Saudi Arabian citizens. 12 pieces of foreign currency, XUV worth Rs 10 lakh and Rs 30 thousand in cash have been recovered from the accused. Among the accused, Ismail Ali and Katima Ali are residents of Delhi. This action was taken by Magarlod police and cyber team.
Police said that these accused used to lure people into giving Indian currency in exchange for dollar notes. In this case, a businessman from Magarlod police station area had lodged a report. Dhamtari police searched more than 300 CCTV cameras and succeeded in catching the accused. The arrested accused have also committed fraud in other states. On 20.09.23, the applicant Shravan Sahu, address, Mohandi police station, Magarlod district, Dhamtari came and lodged a report that on 20.09.23, the rod of the applicant, which was installed in the applicant’s house, was found by an unknown person in the cement shop. Two people who came in a long black car went to the shop and, claiming to be foreign citizens from Saudi Arabia, asked to give a 2000 rupee note instead of a 1 dollar note of 500 rupees in the applicant’s cement shop. On this, the applicant took out 140 notes of Rs 500 each, totaling Rs 70,000, from the cupboard kept in his house and gave them to the said unknown people, saying that he was bringing the money by car and ran away without giving the money to the applicant.
On the report of this case, the Superintendent of Police gave instructions to take immediate action against the accused. On this, police station in-charge Magarlod and cyber cell technical personnel took immediate action and traced the unknown accused. The CCTV cameras installed at the incident site and the CCTV cameras installed in the surrounding areas were carefully examined. While searching for the address of the unknown accused, the police closely looked at the CCTV footage installed from the incident site village Mohandi Magarlod to Dhamtari, Kaker, Kondagaon, Jagdalpur, Datewada.. While searching for the unknown accused, more than 500 CCTV cameras were seen in the said incident. Gaya and Cyber Cell Technical District Dhamtari continuously traced the unknown accused with the help of technical evidence. Cyber cell technical team received information about unknown accused being around Raipur district. On this, the team of Cyber Cell and Police Station Magarlod caught unknown accused Ismail Ali father Kazam Ali, Katima Ali husband Mohammad Ismail Ali and interrogated them strictly, on which after accepting the said incident, both the accused were sent to jail on judicial remand.
