Chamber of Commerce refuses to support Congress’ bandh: said- cannot support on short notice; Chhattisgarh bandh has been called tomorrow on Kawardha incident

Congress has called for a Chhattisgarh bandh in the Kawardha violence case. Congress has said that the entire state will be closed on Saturday, September 21. However, in the meeting of Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce on Friday, it was decided that traders will not support the bandh.

The Chamber of Commerce has said that it is not possible to close the shops in the state on such a short notice. State Congress President Deepak Baij had called for a Chhattisgarh bandh on September 21, citing the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

What did the Chamber say in its letter? Ajay Bhasin, State General Secretary of Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries, said that we received the letter from Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee on Friday, 20 September. In this, support has been requested for the strike being organized by Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee. Supporting the strike is the jurisdiction of the executive only. It is not possible to call a meeting of the executive in such a short time.

The Chamber also said that small traders, hawkers and business organizations are involved. Those who do business of fruits, vegetables, milk and other raw materials have to suffer financial loss due to sudden shutdown. Hence the Chamber is unable to support the “Chhattisgarh Bandh”. All the senior officials including Chamber State President Amar Parwani, Treasurer Uttamchand Golchha were present in the meeting regarding the shutdown.

BJP District Vice President Lalit Jaisingh welcomed the Chamber’s decision not to support the bandh. He thanked Chamber President Amar Parwani and said that the traders have to suffer huge losses due to the bandh, due to which business remains bad for the next three days.

What is the ruckus in Kawardha? Actually, on Sunday, September 15, on suspicion of the murder of Shivprakash alias Kachru Sahu, a resident of Loharidih, Kawardha, the villagers set fire to the house of the deputy sarpanch Raghunath Sahu and burnt him alive. During the incident, people did not allow the police to enter the village. Many policemen including SP Abhishek Pallav were injured in the stone pelting.

It is being told that mob lynching has happened in Kawardha due to old rivalry, political war and fight for supremacy between Deputy Sarpanch Raghunath and Shiv Prakash. Police has filed FIR against 161 people. More than 60 people have been arrested. Prashant Sahu was also among them, he died in police custody. The uproar has increased. Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel has visited the village. Many videos have surfaced in which policemen are seen beating the villagers.
