Vaishakh Purnima Tithi is starting from 6:48 pm on Wednesday, 22nd May and will end at 7:23 pm on Thursday, 23rd May. In such a situation, fasting on Purnima Tithi, charity and Arghya to the moon will be done on 22nd May. On May 23, auspicious works like bathing, donation, worship etc. will be done.

After leaving his home, Prince Siddhartha wandered in the forest for seven years in search of truth. Here he performed rigorous penance and finally attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodhgaya on the day of Vaishakh Purnima. Since then this day is known as Buddha Purnima. After attaining enlightenment, Lord Buddha broke his fast by drinking kheer. Therefore, on this day, Kheer is prepared at home and Prasad of Kheer is also offered to Lord Buddha.
