Russia Ukraine War: The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant against Russian President Putin on charges of illegal deportation of children from the territory of Ukraine to Russia.
International Criminal Court: 17 March 2023 . The war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for more than a year. Neither of the two countries is ready to bow down. Meanwhile, the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Putin for war crimes in Ukraine. The Court says that the Russian President is allegedly responsible for the war crime of illegal transfer of people (especially children) from the occupied territories of Ukraine to the Russian Federation.
Russia has repeatedly rejected the allegations of such atrocities made by its neighbor Ukraine. The Pre-Trial Chamber-2 of the International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for two persons including Putin. The second name among them is that of Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova.
What did the International Criminal Court say?
The court noted that the crimes were allegedly committed in Ukrainian-occupied territory from the beginning of Russia’s invasion on February 24, 2022. The Court noted that there are reasonable grounds to believe that Putin bears personal criminal responsibility for having committed such acts directly, jointly with others and/or through others.
The ongoing war between the two countries since last year
The International Criminal Court said that Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova, Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Office of the Russian President, is allegedly responsible for the war crime of illegal deportation of children and illegal transfer of persons. Significantly, the war between Ukraine and Russia is going on since February last year. Ukraine has repeatedly accused Russia of war crimes.
