Order issued by the Home Department
Raipur 02 April 2023 IPS DM Awasthi, director of EOW and Anti Corruption Bureau, retired on 31 March. But within 24 hours, the matter of giving him appointment on contract came to the fore. The same happened, now the Home Department has issued an order for the contractual appointment of Awasthi. A copy of this order was tweeted on Sunday by the Chief Minister’s Office itself. That means Awasthi has retired. But the job remains. Awasthi has now been made OSD in PHQ.
After retirement, the government is going to re-appoint Awasthi. The discussion about this was already going on. Meanwhile orders were issued. Prior to this, Awasthi was the DGP of the state for three years. After that took over the responsibility of Director of Police Training Center. He was made director of EOW and ACB only three months back. Awasthi, who became IPS in 1986 at the age of just 23, was posted as SP and IG in different cities of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. He has been kept in the category of IPS who does good work in bureaucracy and shows it by performing.
