According to the information, the religious symbol Jaitkham installed in Baghin Cave located in Manakoni Basti, about 5 km from the Satnami community’s religious place Girodpuri Dham, was damaged late on the night of May 15. Thousands of people of the community were protesting for several days in Dussehra ground near the Collectorate against the demolition of Jaitkham.

The police arrested 3 people in this case and sent them to jail. People allege that the people arrested are not the real accused and the police is protecting the culprits. During the protest on Monday, people became furious over this issue. After this, the situation kept deteriorating.

  • May 16: When people came to know about it in the morning, they demonstrated on the spot demanding action.
  • May 17: A case was lodged with the police.
  • 19 May: People of the community blocked the roads in Manakoni Basti demanding the arrest of the accused. During this, Guru of the community and former minister Rudrakumar demanded action, while Guru Khuswant Saheb reminded of the protests held during the Congress government.
  • 19 May: Police arrested 3 accused from Bihar in this case. During interrogation, it was found that the contractor was not paying money for the tap water scheme work. Therefore, the accused vandalized the place under influence of alcohol.
  • 20 May: A meeting of the people of the society was held. It was said that the wrong accused have been arrested. Those who are guilty should be caught. The outline of the movement was prepared there.
  • 21 May: A memorandum was submitted to the police and administration regarding the arrest of the culprits. Since then, people of the society have been continuously submitting applications demanding investigation and action.
  • 08 June: The collector called a meeting of the peace committee with administrative officers, police officers and people of the society. An appeal was made to avoid agitation. It was also said to expedite the investigation.
  • June 9: Deputy CM and Home Minister Vijay Sharma ordered a judicial inquiry.
  • 09 June: On the same day, with the permission of the administration, the society sought permission for a one-day demonstration on 10 June at Dussehra ground near the Collectorate.
  • 10 June: During this demonstration, people suddenly became violent and the chaos kept increasing. During the violence, the Collector-SP office was set on fire. Many vehicles were burnt.
  • 10 June: Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai called a high level meeting. Orders were issued to arrest the miscreants. IG and Commissioner have been sent to the spot and a report has been sought.
  • 10 June: 7 separate FIRs were filed. 73 accused were arrested, 200 were taken into custody. 12 police teams were formed to search for the rioters and a team of 22 police officers was formed for investigation.
  • 11 June: Police arrested 200 accused by evening. 12 police teams were formed to arrest the rioters. Raids were conducted at many places.
  • 11 June: Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai expressed his displeasure in a meeting with the officials. He said, how did the information not reach you people when such a big incident happened? Why was a backup not kept?
  • 11 June: Late night IAS Deepak Soni was appointed as the new collector and Vijay Agarwal as the new SP. Removed collector KL Chauhan was made special secretary in the ministry and SP Sadanand Kumar was sent to the police headquarters.
