Raipur . Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has left for Belgaum, Karnataka, he will attend the special meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) to be held on December 26. The meeting has been named ‘Nav Satyagraha’, which is being organized on the occasion of completion of 100 years of the beginning of Satyagraha from Belgaum by Mahatma Gandhi.
Bhupesh Baghel tweeted, Friends! I am leaving for Belgaum (Karnataka) from Raipur. I will reach by midnight today. Belgaum is the same place where 100 years ago Pujya Bapu Mahatma Gandhi became the President of Congress. Here on 26 December, a special meeting of the extended CWC will be held, which has been named ‘Nav Satyagraha’. Because 100 years ago Gandhiji had announced Satyagraha from Belgaum itself. Now from the same place, Congress will move forward with the resolution of ‘Nav Satyagraha’. He also told that on 27 December a huge ‘Jai Bapu-Jai Bhim-Jai Samvidhan’ rally will be organized here.
Baghel said, while thinking, the picture is forming in front of the eyes when on 26 December 1924, on the occasion of the 39th session of the Congress in this Belgaum (Karnataka), Gandhiji would have been unanimously made the President of the Indian National Congress for the first time. This session proved to be a milestone in the freedom struggle. Thousands of people from every corner of the country came to this session. In the session, Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi got the command of the Congress and the messages given by Gandhiji as the President had a strong impact in the freedom struggle.
The year 2024 is the centenary year of that historic convention. In this journey of 100 years, the country has seen many ups and downs. During all these ups and downs, the same messages of Gandhiji remain very important and relevant for today’s India.
After all, what did Gandhiji say in this conference?
- Mahatma Gandhi had called upon all the countrymen to forget their differences and unite to fight against the oppressive British rule. He bridged the gap that had arisen between Hindus and Muslims after the Khilafat Movement and united the entire country.
- Talking on the resolution of Swaraj, Gandhiji said that as long as we discriminate against each other on the basis of caste, religion, language and region and continue to consider them untouchable, the resolution of Swaraj will remain incomplete.
- Gandhiji said that unless conscious people like the country’s educationists, intellectuals and social workers participate in politics, the resolve to bring about change in the country will be difficult.
- Gandhiji told the freedom fighters that the biggest weapon against the dictatorship of the British is non-violence and polite disobedience. If we do not do as the British say, their system will collapse on its own. A few years after this, the Civil Disobedience Movement was started in 1930.
Now let’s talk about 100 years later, i.e. 2024. This is a time when BJP wants to break the unity of the country by tearing apart Baba Saheb’s constitution, insulting the country’s heroes, and inciting hatred on the basis of caste and religion. Even in this era of hatred and violence, the Congress party is ready to follow the path shown by Gandhi and firmly imbibe the values, teachings and traditions given by him.
The meeting of the extended working committee of the Congress Party is going to be held on 26 December 2024 in the same Belgaum, from where Gandhiji taught India the value of harmony, unity, love and defiance towards dictatorial forces. The Congress Party and its crores of workers are today ready with full devotion to revive the Gandhian ideals of truth, non-violence and love.
