In order to improve the health of Underweight children who are suffering from malnutrition in the state, 3052 day-care centres “Angan” will be opened by the Department of Women and Child Development. Care and nutrition management of such children will be done at the community level in the Angan centres. An amount of about Rs four and a half crores will be spent on this arrangement.
The Day-Care Centre “Angan” will be started in those anganwadi centres in which there are total 5 or more Underweight children. Regular camps will be organized for three months at the Anganwadi Kendra. A follow-up of the health status of the children will be taken once in 15 days during these 3 months. This activity will be taken up extensively till 3 months in targeted villages and will continue in the form of partial follow-up for three months.
A Poshan Sevika will be identified to support the “Angan” Kendra in every village. The Underweight children will be provided with breakfast, lunch, third meal and evening snack daily. The “Angan” Kendras will be expanded as per requirement in other districts of the state also.
