Kanti Yadav earns Rs 2.25 lakh selling cow dung

Bemetara 09 June 2023, Chhattisgarh Government’s ambitious Godhan NYAY Yojana is bringing positive transformation in the lives of the rural population. The scheme not only provides women access to employment opportunities but also helps them achieve economic empowerment. Rural women who were earlier confined to household chores, are now engaging themselves in the income-generating activities in the Gauthans, becoming self-reliant.

One such example is Smt. Kanti Yadav, a resident of village Mauhabhatha of Saja development block, who is earning a good income by selling cow dung under this scheme. She stated that her husband, Shri Jagrakhan Yadav is a cattle herder and their family does not own any land. She explained that they were dependent on her husband’s earnings, which made their lives quite challenging. However, since the commencement of Gauthan and cow dung procurement in their village, they have earned a total of Rs 2,25,360 by selling 112,680 kilograms of cow dung. This income has assisted them in keeping their household running and fulfilling various family necessities. With the funds, they have also leased 2 acres of land and started agricultural work.

Smt. Kanti Yadav expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the state government for implementing this beneficial Godhan NYAY Yojana, empowering the rural population of the state.
