Jagdalpur. Bastar Dussehra has begun and with it the preparations for this grand and historical festival have also begun, which is celebrated for a full 75 days. The most important and attractive tradition of this festival is Rath Parikrama. This year too, the process of chariot construction for Rath Parikrama is progressing rapidly. The umbrella of Danteshwari Devi is installed on this chariot and it is taken around the whole city. This time a Vijay Rath with 8 wheels is being prepared, which will be about 30 feet
This Dussehra of Bastar is famous not only locally but also internationally. Every year hundreds of tourists from India and abroad reach Bastar to see it. The chariot construction work has been formally started with the performance of the ritual of Mangarmuhi in the presence of the festival’s president and villagers.
The process of building this chariot is very special and unique. The entire work is divided among special sections of various local villages. The Sarai wood used in the construction of the chariot is brought from the forests by people of a special section and then the tribal villagers of Badeumar and Jhadumar villages build a huge chariot from these woods in 15 days. Like every year, this year also a very special-huge chariot is being built with full enthusiasm for Bastar Dussehra.
